Banner sponsored the third DVLA Code Challenge competition recently.  The event enables pupils to develop their problem solving, communication and teamwork skills; as well as improving their knowledge of computer programming in a fun and innovative way.

The DVLA code challenge took place at the Richard Ley Development Centre (RLDC) in Swansea.  The day proved to be an amazing success with a lot of excited children, a fantastic host, and brilliant judges. In total 50 Schools & Community Groups across Wales won Prizes and all the entries were of a very high quality, which shows just how much talent is out there, we just need to provide opportunities for the children to use it.

Banner were one of the event sponsors and were able to on make a positive impact on Welsh Schools and Community Groups. The venue could have been filled 3 times over and in excess of 3000 people watched the event on the live link in Schools and Community Centres across Wales.

After the event the Banner team were sent a kind message from Mark Jones, Head if Ethical Hacking Services.

Mark Jones said: "I cannot thank you enough for your generous support and contribution to this competition, and as I originally said, all of your contribution has gone to Schools and Groups to help children learn IT. The Challenge has now become an annual event engaging with Schools, Colleges, Community Groups and businesses."

  • Over 300 children and Adults attended the RLDC on the 3rd December and there was a waiting list that exceeded 500 people.
  • Over 3,000 children, teachers and parents joined us over the live link across Wales to watch the event.
  • Over 4,300 votes cast for the entries on the day. Voting was open for 1.5 hours.
