Did you know that all countries in the EU have to have a system to measure the working hours of their employees?

On the 14th of May 2019, the European Court ruled that all countries within the European Union must set-up a system to measure the working hours of their employees.

The purpose of the ruling is to protect employees by making sure all labour laws are complied with.

Banner is proud to be supporting the newly launched charity, evo Foundation, with an epic 274-mile walk over 10 consecutive days! The Walk of evo will take place from 23rd October 2023 and will see our teams reach key milestones in communities where Banner has a significant presence: Aston, Bradford, Leeds, and Normanton.   

Equating to 10 marathons in 10 days, Banner's Operation Director, Steve Smith, is taking on the entire walk, and will be joined by friends from Banner along the way. And it doesn’t stop there; colleagues will also join forces with their local communities and contribute to the fundraising efforts remotely.

This year, from Monday 15th May until Sunday 21st May, and featuring key brands from the UK stationery industry, the National Stationery Week campaign will once again celebrate ‘Seven Days of Stationery’ with a series of fun activities and competitions – now is the time to declare that you are addicted to stationery!

The typical office worker will sit at their desk for over 1,300 hours this year, 10,000 hours just eight years into their career, and 53,000 hours by the time they retire.

Data shows that despite growing concern for the health and wellbeing of employees, desk-based employees are estimated to spend 70% of their working day sitting down.

Searches for “hip pain” and “chair pain” are on the up, while searches for "back ache" remain high, all symptoms associated with chronic inactivity.
