Supporting Charlotte every step of the way

Although she’s facing incredibly tough times, Banner’s Charlotte Verity is being supported by family, friends, customers and colleagues every step of the way.

Charlotte, one of our corporate account managers, was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive triple negative breast cancer just days after her 40th birthday this January.

An impressive show of support from friends and colleagues will include a 12 mile walk on Saturday 29 June to raise money for the breast cancer unit at Nottingham City Hospital.

Our drive to make Banner's logistics operation even more environmentally friendly has taken a great step forward.

As part of our move towards a greener future and more eco-friendly service for customers, our transport fleet, Truline, has invested in 18 new, lower emission trunking fleet. The expectation is that these vehicles will deliver up to a 7% improvement in mpg. This to supplement investment last year in the delivery vehicles.

The '19 plate DAF vehicles, which feature the latest fuel and emission efficient diesel engines, will replace older vehicles in the fleet.

It may be a whole year since the GDPR law, but many UK organisations are still yet to comply, according to research.

Of 23 personal data requests made to companies in the UK, 74% failed to address these requests from individuals seeking to obtain a copy of their personal data, within the one-month time limit required by the GDPR.

And, in the last year, fines totalling over £49 million have been issued to 91 companies around the world for failing to follow GDPR rules, including nearly £44 million against a single organisation. Although the European Commission did not levy the full 4% of the companies’ total global revenue, which they could have done, it’s still a sizeable sum.

Green clothes, cakes and a match donation have helped Banner get one tenth of the way to our fundraising target for our National charity partner.

The first of our charity days at Banner saw people come to work wearing green or choosing not to in return for a donation to the NSPCC, while others baked buns, bought raffle tickets and entered sweepstakes.
