Face masks are now a part of everyday life.

It has been scientifically proven that face masks can help prevent the spread of viruses such as Covid-19. There are now strict measures in place to contain the spread of the virus, which includes the use of a face mask when outside of your home including in workplaces and on public transport

At Banner, we have recently been working with a number of customers including Edge Hill University and Northern Regional College to provide branded face coverings which will be distributed to lecturers, staff and students when they return to the campus this September.

Here we look at some of the benefits of branded face coverings as workplaces, schools, colleges and universities begin to re-open. Plus some tips to help you look after your re-usable mask and ensure it’s safe to use.

1. Tackle back to work nerves

As workplaces begin re-open this autumn to welcome back colleagues and customers, many may be feeling a little apprehensive about what to expect, how social distancing will be maintained and what safeguards will be in place to protect them.

To help employees and customers feel more comfortable and to create a welcoming environment, many companies are providing face masks, coverings and visors. Branded face coverings can help colleagues feel part of the team and re-assure them that you are taking all the necessary steps to make the workplace safe.

Providing a branded face covering shows you care about your teams' comfort and wellbeing and may help employees feel more connected to the workplace.

2. Brand recognition and advertising

You can choose the fabric colour and add your logo or message to the face covering to ensure it is on brand. If you already provide a branded staff uniform, you can add face masks to this to keep branding consistent across all members of your team and ensure they are instantly recognisable to customers.

Masks can also be given to customers and clients when on your site, in your store, at events or through the post as giveaways. Face masks are now a large part of everyday life and employees and customers may wear your branded masks in shops and on public transport, further promoting your brand.

3. Better for the environment

Disposable masks can only be worn once and must be disposed of after each use. A re-usable mask can be washed after each use and will not end up in landfill.

The re-usable face masks chosen by Edge Hill University are made with 100% eco-friendly cotton and comprise of 2-layers of anti-microbial fabric, which can be washed up to 50 times.

4. Promotes professionalism

Having a company logo or name printed on a face covering and PPE looks better than having an off the shelf version. This will have a positive impact on staff and customers.

5. Save money

A re-usable mask will save you money as they can be washed and re-worn without losing their shape. You can also bulk order your branded face masks for additional cost savings.

Once you have your re-usable mask, here are some handy tips to ensure it stays clean and effective for use.

Tips to look after your mask:

  • Before first use - store the mask in its original packaging in a dry place away from direct sunlight
  • It is recommended to change your mask after 4 hours and after eating or drinking or if the mask becomes wet or damaged.
  • Before and after touching your mask, always wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based solution
  • Wash the mask at 60°c for at least 30 minutes with washing powder. This can be done with your regular laundry
