As a provider to Central Government and the Wider Public Sector via a number of Frameworks, Banner is delighted to offer a compliant supply route for a new certified, UK manufactured, face covering to both the public and private sectors.
The Business Standards Institution (BSI) launched the new quality assured KitemarkTM to help people instantly know whether they're buying a face covering that is effective or not.
With many face coverings available in the market and as masks become compulsory in more places, the new KitemarkTM accreditation provides consumers with confidence and assurance that the products have been assessed and approved to a technical specification.
The UK manufactured face coverings are available to all Banner customers and are currently in stock in our Distribution Centres across the UK.
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Michael Gove said: "This is a major step to ensure that this country can meet any increase in demand for face coverings by working with British firms to establish the capability, capacity and skills required to manufacture these items at scale..."
"These production lines will be able to get millions of face coverings to the public, without putting any additional pressure on NHS supply chains."
"It is fantastic to see companies in Lancashire, Neath Port Talbot and West Lothian coming together to provide face coverings for every corner of our United Kingdom."
Face Coverings that hold the KitemarkTM require a 70% particle filtration and breathability test to ensure consumer comfort, whilst also reducing the risk of spreading Coronavirus. As well as providing independent approval of the quality of the fitting, it includes instructions to help the wearer minimize the chances of virus transmission.
The BSI have stated that the new KitemarkTM can only be applied to face coverings that have been proven to be high quality and most effective in stopping the wearer passing the virus on to others.
Howard Kerr, chief executive of BSI, said: "There is an overwhelming choice of face coverings available in the market.
"The challenge is knowing which claims they make are valid and whether they provide a basic level of protection to others.
"Face coverings that are independently assessed to schemes such as the Kitemark will allow consumers to make an informed and trusted decision."
Banner is pleased to announce that stock of the new BSI KitemarkTM face covering is now available for immediate delivery. This addition complements the comprehensive range of face coverings/masks that are already available to Banner customers.
