Our teams have been hard at work giving back to the community

We encourage our people to achieve great things by giving their time to worthwhile causes - here are just a few Banner and EVO Group team members who have been giving something back recently.

The skies the limit
Some members of our teams have been testing their nerves and facing their fears by skydiving for charity.

3fe83e97-7a1a-4486-80f8-924765372f84So far this year Carol Houston took part in a charity skydive to raise money for The institute of Cancer Research. Taking the daring plunge to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet meaning she would have been falling at a speed of 120MPH!

"For those of you who know me, you will realise this is not something I will look forward to. I don't like heights and I'm not a big fan of flying either. To say I will be nervous is an understatement!" Carol claimed on her Just Giving Page. However, on the 20th July 2019, she took to the sky and jumped! So far Carol has raised over £2,300  with a target of £2,500, for a worthwhile cause.

Carol isn't the only employee taking to the skies this year either.

A group of seven are facing their fears this September after being inspired by Banner's charity of the year. Speak Out Stay Safe campaign from the NSPCC.

They are aiming to reach a target of £3,400, which if hit will be enough for specially trained volunteers to visit six schools to teach primary children children what abuse is, that it is never their fault and that there is somewhere they can turn if they need to.

P1010035London to Paris

Across a 43-degree heat wave, Applications Support Specialist, Stephen Baggley got out his bike to raise money for Rotherham Hospice. Stephen decided to challenge himself in the name of charity by cycling the whole way from London, England to Paris, France, across 300 miles and has managed to raise £900 for the hospice across his 4-day escapade.

"The final mile to the Tower was an experience I will never forget"

Making change with your change

At Banner we don't just value big donations, even your pennies count with our Make Change with your Change scheme. Our employees have been signing up for the individual pennies at the end of our pay cheques to go to 3 different charities: Cancer Research UK, BOSS Business Supplies and Banner's charity of the year the NSPCC.

Yellow Yorkshire day

YAA - office

Back in July Banner's office in NDC got bright and wore Yellow in aid of raising money for the

Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The day consisted wearing yellow and partaking in the day's event  of a raffle, blitz prizes with various draw throughout the day or buying/donating to the bake sale.

Overall the day was a success with the team at NDC raising £300 for the charity. This money help to provides life-saving rapid response emergency service in Yorkshire to 5 million people across 4 million acres, operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year to over 1,200 incidents every year.

Back to School

We have been asking staff to bring old school uniforms into NDC. These uniforms are part of a scheme in Bradford where they are washed, patched up and then distributed to families who struggle to find funds for uniforms for their children.

This will benefit those who struggle as this September they won't need to rush or struggle to find the money for school uniforms.
