Oct 13, 2023 3:39:46 PM / by Banner

Banner is proud to be supporting the newly launched charity, evo Foundation, with an epic 274-mile walk over 10 consecutive days! The Walk of evo will take place from 23rd October 2023 and will see our teams reach key milestones in communities where Banner has a significant presence: Aston, Bradford, Leeds, and Normanton.

Equating to 10 marathons in 10 days, Banner's Operation Director, Steve Smith, is taking on the entire walk, and will be joined by friends from Banner along the way. And it doesn’t stop there; colleagues will also join forces with their local communities and contribute to the fundraising efforts remotely.

evo Foundation's Mission

The new independent charity, evo Foundation, is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals throughout the UK and around the globe. All donations raised on the Walk of evo will support the charities two main objectives: the advancement of education and the prevention of poverty.

The evo Foundation was launched in September 2023 by evo Group to concentrate charity efforts and provide a helping hand to those in need.

Andrew Gale, Trustee and founder of the evo Foundation, says, “The idea here is to help people across the UK with the cost of education, and support them when they fall on hard times.

“The focus on education is deliberate – education is so important, it unlocks so many opportunities, but unfortunately, the costs can deter talented young people from reaching their full potential. I come from a generation that could get grants to go to university, the youngsters of today are not so lucky. The evo Foundation will offer help with tuition, equipment, and travel costs.”

A Challenge to Embrace

The Walk of evo does not ease in slowly. The trek begins at 8am at the group's office in Normanton with an impressive 26.9-mile journey, ending at the Sheffield Head POffice an estimated 9 hours later. As the teams make their way South, they will pass by cities such as Nottingham and Leicester, walking from 25 to 31 miles a day. Once they have reached Lutterworth, the teams will head West towards Birmingham and make their way back North via a different route until they have looped back to Normanton.

The Walk of evo is a fantastic challenge, which Banner employees have embraced with enthusiasm and a willingness to push themselves to support the cause. This is just the start for the evo Foundation, with many more charity events planned to take place over the next year.
