Three ways to stay on the right side of data rules
Poor storage, failure to destroy records and information mishandling are just three ways that UK organisations have been finding themselves on the wrong side of data protection rules.
Since the GDPR was introduced in May 2018, research has found that the UK is one of the top three countries for data breaches. The UK experienced 10,600 personal data breaches of the 59,000 reported across the continent since the new law came into effect.

Four members of our corporate sales team, Alex Winstanley, Stephen Trott, Mick Twelves and Simon Eaden, recently rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their time to support the UK’s oldest and largest sail training charity, Tall Ships Youth Trust. The team were put to task and enjoyed a day of completing ships maintenance work for the charity at the Gunwharf Quays Marina in Portsmouth.

Work is a major part of many peoples lives. It’s where we spend most of our time, it’s how we earn our income and it’s often where we form friendships. Therefore, job satisfaction can play a key role in our mental health and general wellbeing.
At Banner, we understand that wellbeing is a complex blend of the physical, psychological, social and relationship aspects of our employees’ working lives, and we recognise the importance of creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.
That’s why we’re marking World Mental Health Day with a series of activities to show our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our employees.
Banner have been awarded the ISO27001 certificate for both Normanton and Sheffield offices after plenty of hard work from the Banner Information Security and senior management teams.

Cleaning up in Scarborough
Jul 25, 2019 11:00:00 AM / by Banner posted in CSR, Charity, Our Environment
We have been putting our environmental and community values into action at one of the UK's busiest beaches.
Over 60 of our people plus family members and friends took part in the first-ever Banner Beach Clean at Scarborough's South Bay. It was fabulous effort by all involved, the teams worked up and down the beach and the surrounding area and collected over 28 kgs of plastic, glass and assorted waste from the North Yorkshire beauty spot.
This was a great way to put our commitment to local communities and the natural environment into action, with the beach clean running from 11am in the morning until 3pm in the afternoon.

Over 100 Banner people, friends and family members will be rolling up their sleeves and cleaning one of the UK’s most popular beaches this July
Along with Banner managing director Craig Varey, they’ll be doing everything they can to reduce the amount of plastic waste and pollution reaching our oceans by taking part in the Banner Beach Clean, at South Bay Beach in Scarborough on Saturday 20 July.
Organised by Banner’s head of facilities supplies, Andy Whiting, the Banner Beach Clean gives everyone at the company the chance to use their volunteer day by taking part. Banner employees are given one working day each year to volunteer for a local or national charity.
