Our drive to make Banner's logistics operation even more environmentally friendly has taken a great step forward.

As part of our move towards a greener future and more eco-friendly service for customers, our transport fleet, Truline, has invested in 18 new, lower emission trunking fleet. The expectation is that these vehicles will deliver up to a 7% improvement in mpg. This to supplement investment last year in the delivery vehicles.

The '19 plate DAF vehicles, which feature the latest fuel and emission efficient diesel engines, will replace older vehicles in the fleet.

Most companies are aware of logistics’ impact on the environment, because the delivery of products to customers is a major contributor to any company’s carbon footprint. Even a few delivery vans out on the road can significantly increase carbon emissions, thanks to their larger engine size and the probability they will be driven for long spells.

Doing things right in catering and hospitality is no longer just about cost and speed of delivery. It's also about our environment and health. 

Most people are now awake to the damage that single use plastic is doing to the environment and wildlife. At least eight million pieces of plastic are estimated to enter the oceans every single day, and a plastic bottle is said to last for 450 years in the marine environment. 

These breakdown into microplastics which are eaten by fish and so enter the food chain and, ultimately, our bodies.

HSM_ProfiPack_packaging_filling_material_3_JPGIn a bid to reduce single-use plastics by 30% before 2020 across our business, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve introduced Eco-friendly packaging throughout our warehouses, for small pick parcels.

At Banner, we deliver an impressive 6,000 small pick parcels a week, that's around 30,000 a month and 312,000 per year! We’re proud that these parcels now contain a cushion of recycled cardboard instead of harmful plastics.

Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) are a corporate partner of Cancer Research UK and participants, like Eric, have helped to raise over £16.4 Million to help beat cancer sooner.

We're extremely proud of Camille Kendall, a Key Account Manager at Banner, who went out with the Homeless Hampers volunteers recently to help distribute warm clothes, hot food, drinks, blankets and sleeping bags to the homeless in the Yorkshire region. 

With freezing temperatures and bitterly cold nights, Homeless Hampers provides an essential role in protecting and supporting the homeless in Yorkshire with the help of volunteers like Camille.
